Siemens beats estimates with $1.9 billion quarterly profit

Siemens, the German engineering giant, saw its quarterly profit by 9% over the same time period from the last year to $1.9 billion in this quarter. The company stated that higher growth of sales in emerging markets such as China (14%) and India (23%) along with a weak Euro has helped it grow despite a decline in Europe. Tony Hayward, BP CEO, expected to quit

Rising sales at McDonald’s leads to increased quarterly profits

With strength in the fast food and new frappes and drinks in its McCafe menu, McDonald’s saw an increase of 12% in its net income for the second quarter.
